Subject: Re: Water Meters

Hi Dear friends More on water meters.  My daughter moved into this house about
the 5/6 of December, on Sunday the toilet and waste pipes kept gurgling Colm
went out the back and lifted ONE of the drain covers nearest to her waste pipe,
there are THREE drains altogether on her land and it was full to overflowing
with brown water and sewage. Merlin was called and when they saw it asked are
you on a water meter? Ellaine said she thought the amount of water they had to
use to clear it was enormous and seemed never ending. Now drain number 2 is
further along still under the kitchen wall near the dividing hedge and about
three foot away from the wall, whose waste is going in there? The third one was
discovered by Merlin quite a long way down the back garden (her garden out the
back is very long) covered by grass etc, she didn't even know it was there. If
other peoples waste is going through the drains in her garden it looks as if
she would have to pick up the tab for the water used no matter who caused it.
We all know people will put anything down the toilet now sanitary waste and wet
wipes etc. I have spoken to her about this and she has said she will check. I
remember when I bought the house in Bristol my brother-in-law said check to see
if you have any main drains within the boundary because you would be
responsible.   Any thoughts or knowledge about water used in this situation? Di.
