At the December 1st meeting, I will distribute most of the new tee shirts, hats
and other merchandise PAS members ordered. There may be a few items still not
completed by the supplier. If you ordered any items, please bring cash so that
I can give you your merchandise. Take care, Sam Insana President of PAS

Subject: [pasmembers] Thursday Dec 1 PAS meeting
Good morning PAS members,
Awesome Monday to eveyrone!
At the PAS meeting, those who purchased Year in Space Calendars, the calendars
are in my hands and I believe you should come get them from me.
Many thanks to Steve Palmer for purchasing enough calendars to save us all $1.
I will have your $1 attached to your calendar for when you pick them up. If you
can not make this meeting, let me know where you will be that I can have the
calendars with me for the next event we can meet up at.
PAS Swap Meet: Bring your items for sale for the Silent Auction or the Garage
Sale side of the room.
Swap Meet: When you walk into the meeting room, the right side of the room is
the SwapMeet. Bring your items to the table, display them nicely with all their
accessories, and on a piece of paper (i will have paper and pens availble),
write up eveyrthing you know about your item for sale, with a starting bid. The
idea is to have attendees walk up to your item for sale, and bid on it. They
will leave their first name or initials next to their bid, and once the meeting
concludes, the bidding will also conclude and then the exchange of money for
item will happen. The items on this side of the room stay where they are until
the meeting concludes.
Garage Sale: When you walk into the room, the left side of the room will be the
for the Garage Sale. These items will be priced and placed on the table, or
near the table, and the idea is it is a Garage Sale setting. So the owner can
stand by their item and bicker on pricing, and once the sale is made, the item
goes to the purchaser, and doesn't have to wait until the end of the evening to
get paid for and picked up. Pay and take it away.
An example of a Garage Sale item might be that you have some extra filters you
want to sell off, but you don't really need them to be bid on. You price them
at $5 each (an example) and when/if someone wants to buy them, you wheel and
deal right then, sell them off right away. And the buyer has the opportunity to
bicker on price, if you want, unless you mark it as "Price is firm."
An example of a Swap Meet items / Silent Auction is that you bring an item for
sale, let's say it is a pair of binoculars, and you place your piece of paper
with the description of the item, listing all its accessories, on the table and
a starting bid of $20 (for example). Then, during the night, bidders go to the
table and let's say Jason thinks that's a good deal for $25, so he places his
bid of $25 and his name of Jason "Jason $25" on the page. Then, Thomas comes
along and says, I want them and I"m willing to pay $30, so his bid goes on the
page "Thomas $30." Then maybe "Kathy $40." This goes on until the end of the
meeting in which we see that Kathy won the bit at $40 and then pays the owner
of the Binocs and takes them home with her. The starting bid should be an
amount that you are willing to part with the item for. It shoudln't be so high
that no one bids on it, but yet, not too low that you feel bad about selling
them.
There will be a table at the front of the room with items that the proceeds go
to PAS. And a box will be on the table to collect the monies for PAS. On the
honor system, put your donation to PAS in the box and take your item.
Some items that will be up there will be Older Year in Space Calendars that
were purchased, paid for, but never picked up, and some astro photos donated to
PAS by a previous guest speaker. Please donate the amount requested for these
items, and if no price is listed, the donation amount asked is a minimum of $1.
It all goes to PAS, so help the club by donating a little cash to PAS. If you
have items to donate to PAS and want to add to this table, feel free to and put
a price on it if you think PAS should get a little more than $1 for that
donation. Unmarked items will be listed as $1 donation.
I need, at the meeting, at 6:30pm for set up, some strong gentlemen to help me
rearrange the room.
We want 3 tables along the wall on the left side
and 3 tables along the wall on the right side
I need 2 tables at the front of the room, one along the
wall at the front left (opposite side of the teachers desk) but along the white
board
and one more table at the front of the room at a 90 degree angle maybe (check
with Suzanne on the placement of this table) from the white board out to the
audience. See attached drawing.
Bring a snack to share, or donate to the snack fund.
I appreciate all help I can get.
Remember, we have dinner this night at Chili's prior to the meeting. To attend
you have to RSVP by NOON on Thursday. So, if you are attending, and so i can
put in the reservation, please RVPS with me soon enough that I can get you a
seat at the PAS Table.
Terri, Event Manager
See attached room set up
for where to put your Swap Meet items
and your Garage Sale items, as well
as your donated to PAS items.
And especially see the attachment if you plan
to help me rearrange the room prior to the start of the meeting. Many thanks to
all my helpers!
