Dear Dr. Henshaw,

As you know I am trying to generate interpolation data between a 3-D
twisted blade and a cartesian background grid. However, the hole that I am
getting from Ogen is not desired on. It creates hole in the background grid
as if the twisted blade has a leakage at the inlet and outlet. The
situation is even worse when I use explicit interpolation.

I have attached the image files which show the hole cut in the background
grid generated by the blade. I have tried different parameters where if a
change improves interpolation it is included for further test cases and if
it worsens interpolation it is discarded. The used parameters are:

1. cell centered: interpolation fails
2. vertex centered: better interpolation
3. ghost points: no effect once increased beyond 5
4. discretization width: increasing this results in worse interpolation
5. interpolate ghost points: no improvement
6. explicit/implicit interpolation: implicit works better, but I can not
use implicit interpolation because of the limitation of the flow solver I
am using.
7. Interpolation width: no improvement
8. quality bound: increasing quality bound worsens interpolation
9. Maximize overlap: interpolation fails
10. minimize overlap: default
11. reducing minimum overlap: no improvement
12. high order interpolation: interpolation worsens (2nd order works better)
13. Using Boundary adjustment: results in not much improvement.

The command file reads:
create mappings
  read plot3d file
  Outerbox_le.grd
  read plot3d file
  Stator_extended_le.grd
  change a mapping
  Outerbox_le.grd-grid0
    boundary conditions
    1,1,1,1,1,1
    exit
  change a mapping
  Stator_extended_le.grd-grid0
    boundary conditions
    -1,-1,1,0,0,0
    exit
  exit this menu
generate an overlapping grid
  Outerbox_le.grd-grid0
  Stator_extended_le.grd-grid0
  change parameters
    prevent hole cutting
      all
      all
      done
    allow hole cutting
      Outerbox_le.grd-grid0
      Stator_extended_le.grd-grid0
      done
    cell centering
      vertex centered for all grids
    ghost points
      all
      10,10,10,10,10,10
    interpolation type
      explicit for all grids
*    exit
*  compute overlap
*  exit
*save grid in plot3d format
*stator_background_4.grd

Please have a look and please let me know if you have some suggestions
about certain parameters, which combination of parameters should I try to
have a higher chance of success.

Thanks,
Ashish
