marty, the thing's completely voice-controled. no buttons. nothing. You turn her off by saying...alexa turn off. that's it. Now, to turn her on..I say like....alexa good morning.or whatever....when you give a command, you always use alexa first...followed by the command. At 12:12 PM 9/19/2016, you wrote:

Hi Randy, but the question is, does she really shut down because, she has to be listening for alexa, so I'll have to find out more, but if there were a button you could press to turn amazon echo on and off, it would make me feel better. I have an mp3 of the amazon echo that Nancy Lynn sent, and here is the audio to that youtube file.

Now, regarding amazon echo, it is a greate tool of information, but here's something to look out for. The name that amazon echo responds to is alexa, so amazon echo is listening for everything, and relaying those conversations to the cloud, because in order for echo to respond to alexa, it has to be listening for everything, so the only way I would get one is if there was a way to turn the amazon echo off until I wanted to use it, and from my understanding, there is no way to turn the amazon echo off once it is set up and plugged in.
