Thanks for your prayers. They and the medication are beginning to make a
difference as long as I don't overtax myself physically. That's what probably
happened to make my Sunday night sleep time so difficult, wanting to get clean
and have clean clothing. I'll probably have to clean my sheets and make my bed
which will overtax me, but I at least see myself going to Albert's Café by cab
to get together with my closest local friend Gina, and hope to buy a new talking
watch.
My no mo ro bo account has been set up by folks from the helpdesk. I just got
my first robot call, and there was only one ring. So, my pleasfor help were
answered by them, and I got across to them that my confused brain had only
messed things up, in that I saw V.O.I.P., and usually could understand that I
had a wireless account, but because of illness wasn't thinking quite clearly
enough to put it all together when I started the no mo ro bo account.
Thankfully, it's now set up. So, I think things are moving in the right
direction.
Believe it or not, in Alameda, there is a jeweler who knows where to order
talking watches and what kind to get. NFB sells Avala atomic watches, which are
the ones the jeweler found work best for people who shopped with her. I was
incredulous when I discovered quite by accident that she had a talking watch on
hand in her store. I'd gone to her hoping she could put a new battery or two in
a watch whose batteries were about gone. She told me that once they go, the
watch is really better being tossed because they make it hard to change
batteries in them because of the way the watches are constructed. I did buy a
watch from her, but the one she had on hand had a large face on it, and in late
July I was walking with my friend Ann close to Lucky Stores and she was trying
to lead me through a tight space. There was a post on my left, and the watch
face hit it. Bye-bye watch. I'll have to pay more for a watch I buy from her
than I would have to pay buying the same watch from NFB, but I'll know it'll
work when I buy it. I did try buying an atomic watchfrom NFB, but it was
defective, so I had to send it back. Sometimes it's just easier to pay more
from a local store and buy knowing what you purchase will work. This all came
up because I'd gone with a Speak to Me Catalog purchase of an atomic watch for
$35.00. That watch, too, was defective, but I didn't keep the paperwork that
came with the watch so can't return the watch. It was packaged from the factory
in a cardboard box, having foam rubber padding only instead of a watch case. I
was too eager to have a working watch and ripped the box open to get the new
watch out. I've had similar problems with purses, as you know. I now have a
new purse which has a zippered compartment on one of the outside parts of the
purse and a magnetic flap on the other part of the outside of the purse, and
either side would allow for storage of a paper prescription I get from my
psychiatrist. I'm probably gonna ask him if I can be weaned off of the
medications. Don't think he'll be in business a whole lot longer. He and his
colleagues have suffered with major health problems, and at 68, he's seeing
things he's worked so hard for slipping out of his hands. He's the only local
provider for patients who have Medi-Cal or Medicare-Medi-Cal, which is why I was
referred to him in the first place. As that's happening to him, I realize
somehow I've gotta get off of these meds and I'm probably getting a start on the
weaning process. I haven't had one medication since August 4th, which is when I
saw him initially. I've decided to take only one anti-depressant pill each
morning to make sure enough is in my system to allow me to have enough
medication to last me till I see him next Tuesday, at least, that's what I'm
hoping I can do. So, slowly, things seem to be working out. I'll make a
sandwitch, the viral symptoms being a thing of the past happily, meaning I can
go back to eating my usual solid foods.
