Brian, if it was me I think that if I ran my test system rman backup only once
per month and I used an rman catalog to keep track of my backups I would use
the backup copies option for my backup retention instead of days. That is, I
want I would want to keep 2 or 3 backups and not declare my backup obsolete
based on age.

So I need to change my rman backups to once a month for our training system. I
was keeping 3 days' worth of rman catalog retention because we had been backing
it up every day. Do I now have to change the retention to 30 days? I know it
sounds like a dumb question but it is more of a sanity check than anything
else......
