Thanks for your reply.  The max of blob size is 1M and the average is 0.2M.  
Both initial and next extents are 1M.  Our chunk size is 8K.David

try to play with storage parameters of the LOB column
- initial and next extent
- enable/disale storage in row
- chunk size
 
What is average blob size?
Cache helped me as well.
