Hi List,

I just thought I'd share this with the group since we just finally resolved
this problem after months of troubleshooting and I couldn't find anything else
posted about it on the Internet, or in Metalink or Symantec's knowledge base.

If you run multiple backups concurrently to Netbackup from Oracle on Linux, you
may receive intermittent failures with the following error message:

serverResponse: ERR - server exited with status 25: cannot connect on socket

The solution we were given from Symantec was to adjust the per_source parameter
in the /etc/xinetd.conf file. The default was 10 and we have changed it to
UNLIMITED for now, but somewhere in the middle will probably do the trick just
as well. If you're encountering this problem, you might also see the following
errors in /var/log/messages:

xinetd[4873]: FAIL: vnetd per_source_limit from=<IP address of your Netbackup
server>

Regards,
Brandon
