The recovery window is not critical. The application is really just a home-grown data mining tool that's used to analyze the data that's loaded into the database. And in the event of a disaster, that application and data would take a much lower priority than other databases that are more critical to our operations. The reason for not using separate databases is, again, related to cost: we would be charged for maintaining to separate databases and that's hardly warranted given the size of app2. I will raise the issue with management just to be sure they give that thought due diligence before proceeding. Thanks for the thought. But creating a table in the wrong tablespace sure would. If the applications use mutually exclusive sets of data, why not have two databases?
