I most certainly am using it.  ...but so far it has been ineffective.

you need to check metalink for internal errors. Its basically oracle saying
'unhandled exception'. If you don't find anything(and alot of times you
won't) open a TAR.

you never know wh at it is. A simple public synonym switch(drop them
pointing to one schema and re-create pointing to another) got us an ora-600
error. Oracle opened a bug on it. 

oracle support is so expensive, you might as well use it.
