There is an excellent tool from IBM (a part of Tivoli) called Maestro.
It has a GUI interface allowing operators to change schedule, cancel,
suspend or resume jobs, as well as to see the
report about errors. It is a multi-platform, distributed tool which
works on AIX and Solaris and, probably, a few other platforms. It has a
feature called "fence", which is similar to the restricted session mode:
all jobs are automatically suspended, which is great for maintenance and
ensuring that nothing will run during the designated downtime window.
