I attended the RAC class and instructor recommended us to install binaries
outside the shared disks. primarily because of single point of failure. Also
for performance reasons It's good to have local copy of binaries available.
Plus shared disk arrays are more expensive than the regular SCSI disks, so it
is cheaper and less error prone to install oracle on local disks.

We have two Clariion SANs. The servers I work on have the installs on
the local disk. Part of the thinking behind it is if the server
completely crashes, they just rebuild and reinstall, and attach the data
disks. I am in the Windows world unfortunately.=20

We are in the process of moving to 10G and getting a new SAN EMC Clarion
Storage Array. We also MAY be going to RAC. These are Solaris Boxes

I have always put the binaries on the local internal disk. What do you
