we actually created a middle 8.1.7.4 db db that hosts only dblinks and synonyms
to the 9.2 db and the 7.3 db can access it without any issues.

Do you mean tables in the 8.1.7 database or do you mean synonyms? I
want the live data fro 9.2.

I created a middle 8.1.7 database, created the tables in the middle db,
and then created public synonyms to point to them. Works like a charm.

Subject: Dblink between Oracle 7.3 and 9.2

We have several applications still on Oracle 7.3.4 that net to talk to
our upgraded Oracle Financials on 9.2. The applications use Dblinks
which do not work between 7.3 and 9.2. Has anyone run across this
problem and cam up with a solution?

Thanks!
Ron Smith
