Job Title: Database Administrator Overview: Odyssey Logistics & Technology is seeking a self-motivated individual with technical background to join the Production Services team responsible for monitoring, supporting and maintaining mission critical applications and infrastructure in a fast-paced, multi-site web environment that requires 24 x 7 availability. This mid level position with opportunity for rapid professional growth will report directly to the Production Services Manager at Odyssey's North American Service Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Job Responsibilities: 1. Administer Oracle Databases and application servers on a daily basis including installation, patching, monitoring and troubleshooting. 2. Automate monitoring and administrative processes through scripting. 3. Assist with administration of linux server environments. 4. Administer VMWare Virtual Infrastructure. 5. Administer both EMC and Network Appliance storage system arrays in a multi-site environment. 6. Monitor production systems on a daily basis with special concern for alert notifications and abnormal events. Some on-call after-hours support required. 7. Facilitate issue resolution utilizing RT Ticket system including triage, assignment and investigation through completion. Document procedures and resolutions for use in Knowledge Base repository. 8. Upgrade and deployment of new system releases to the production and quality assurance environments. Required Experience/Skills 1. B.S. in Computer Science or related field. 2. Solid understanding of the administration of Oracle databases in LINUX/UNIX environments. 3. Proven knowledge of at least 1 administrative scripting language such as: Bash, PERL, or Python 4. A good understanding of LINUX/UNIX based operating systems with Red Hat LINUX preferred. 5. Knowledge of storage system administration utilizing EMC and/or Network Appliance a definite plus. 6. Knowledge of VMWare Virtual Infrastructure administration a definite plus. 7. Familiar with Windows Server management, network and security procedures. 8. Experience with any of the following can provide candidates with an additional competitive edge: Oracle Application server, Websphere Application server, Websphere MQ JMS, Apache web servers, Request Tracker Ticketing, Nagios Monitoring and Zenoss Monitoring. 9. Experience in supporting enterprise applications in a high availability environment. 10. Familiar with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan development. 11. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively. 12. Strong problem solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail required. 13. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
