I cannot argue with anyone who interprets “I don't particularly care for” as
disparagement.
I won’t put words in Jeff’s mouth, but I believe that is what he took as
disparagement by association. Rather than Kevin (except by associate to Oak
Table), I believe Jeff took exception to not particularly caring for groups of
people. That is also exactly how I took your words.
But then this is a technical list. I here I only don’t care for erroneous
technical material and/or someone getting upset if someone else corrects and
error. And consistently dishing out useful technical information gains a person
some slack on a bit of non-technical content.
Thankfully under Mark Bobak’s gentle ministrations and Steve Adams before him
this remains the least flamy and usually correct list I’ve ever seen on any
topic.
(I’m sure that is ripe for oneupsmanship; please skip that because you cannot
refute my opinion regarding my personal experience.)
And some pretty doggone impressive folks usually step in with technical review
of unhelpful or incorrect advice flame free and matter of factly. (Some of them
are members or associates of the groups of people you don’t particularly care
for: That’s okay by me.)

Jeff, where did I disparage anyone? I simply said that I've learned some truths
about the ACE status, which isn't disparaging to anyone. As Kevin Closson's
example illustrates , Oracle ACE status describes a relationship between the
ACE and the Oracle Corp. That is a very simple truth. I have all the respect in
the world for Kevin and I have contacted him personally, asking for an advice
on more than one occasion. As he is the only person I named in my post, I take
it that you understand my post as disparaging to Kevin, but I don't see how it
can be disparaging. I would be very interested in learning what exactly do you
find disparaging in my post, and whom did I disparage?

Someone will have to tell this to Kevin Closson. He may un-retire when he sees
this. He's the only retired Oracle flying ace that I know of. Jonathan is also
on his way to become Oracle Ace (RET), just like Kevin. I always liked the
title, it reminded me of WWI flying ace from the Peanuts.
I don't particularly care for the aces, masters or the associates of the fabled
furniture store ("Oak Table"). I've learned some truths about that long time
ago, but that is not something that I would be willing to discuss at length on
this list.
