What about the standby databases? In version 11 we've always had to copy orapwd files to standbys. joe _______________________________________ Joe Testa, Oracle Certified Professional Senior Engineering & Administration Lead (Work) 614-677-1668 (Cell) 614-312-6715 From: "CRISLER, JON A (ATTCORP)" <JC1706@xxxxxxx> To: <TESTAJ3@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: <oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>, <oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: 03/17/2011 02:32 PM Subject: RE: 11g RAC orapw file issue- RAC nodes not updated Sent by: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx This is not how I remembered how this worked. On a local cluster, all nodes had the orapwd file updated when the sys password was changed. Don't change sys password unless you want to copy the orapwd file to all of the nodes every time you change it. joe _______________________________________ Joe Testa, Oracle Certified Professional Senior Engineering & Administration Lead (Work) 614-677-1668 (Cell) 614-312-6715 From: "CRISLER, JON A (ATTCORP)" <JC1706@xxxxxxx> To: <oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: 03/17/2011 01:42 PM Subject: 11g RAC orapw file issue- RAC nodes not updated Sent by: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Has anybody run into this problem before ? 11g R2 Grid home, 11g R1 RDBMS home, 5 node RAC cluster with DataGuard to anther RAC cluster. Default user profile has a pw expiration. I run "alter user sys identified by xxxx" to update pw, same for system. Local machine is fine but the other nodes on the local RAC cluster do not get their "orapwd" files updated, so DG starts to misbehave. Keep in mind, I am aware of orapwd problems with remote DG issues, but this is for the local orapwd on the local cluster. ?? Each node has its own $ORACLE_HOME. Is this a bug ? I have never run into this issue before with 10g RAC. i0zX+?n{+i^
