10g install on aix

Can somebody explain to me why you need to unset the library env variables on 
aix before installing 10gRelease2?
 
From the RDA tool:
 
 
 80 LDLIBRARYPATH unset?       FAILED = IsSet 90 LIBPATH           unset?       
FAILED = IsSet
