"why would the consultants want us to put this on a clustered file system?"

It's very simple. The consultants have experience burning their hands with
ASM.

Subba.

 384248.1. I found this too.

I am not sure why were aren't using ASM for the CRS

I want to redo this on ASM instead of on clustered file system but I am
getting push back on this.

Isn't this where Oracle is heading? I assume I will have to convert this
over to ASM in the near future anyway so why would the consultants want us
to put this on a clustered file system?

I have been looking for documents on how to set up a shared Appl Top for our
Rac / ASM environment for 12i from a storage perspective.

This would be Oracle unbreakable Linux, Dell servers and EMC san storage.

Any docs, tip or tricks is appreciated.

Thanks,

Kathy
