There is an excellent paper on this subject from Robert Azzopardi
(Oracle Canada)

You might say it is out of date, but the concepts are the same, and
the network bandwidth numbers would be the same as R12 still utilize
Forms and HTTP interfaces.
If you use Forms servlet configuration (default) you multiple traffic
requirement to X% (there X my guess ~10-20%).
