Cloning will get you a complete copy of the database. If you're doing an implementation, some customers will produce a "golden" copy that contains just the setups and clone from that to build their other instances. While there are issues with that approach (setups may change, etc.) another approach would be to use the FNDLOAD utility or iSetup to hep migrate specific setups.
