I think we have 79 surveys now. I received several requests today for
copies of both surveys. When I send a thank you to each survey respondent
I explain about the two surveys and invite them to ask for copies to share
with others.
SUGGESTION FOR A NEW SURVEY
Richard Oehm has suggested that the list prepare a survey to send to any
and all repairers of Optacons. The survey would include things like
pricing, what services each vendor has, and updated contact information.
Richard says that at this time both he and Leo Drell from Visual Aids,
also located in California, agree that "there is no Optacon that can't be
repaired". He did go on to explain that some parts are scarcer than others
and that not all the repairers have the facilities to provide every
service. Some vendors for instance can replace batteries in R1 Optacons
but they can't rebuild arrays. Richard Oehm's idea is to bring all Optacon
repairers up to speed so that they can each provide full service. Users
could get their Optacons repaired by the company or individual closest to
where they live.
So how about it? Is there a volunteer on the list who would like to write
up the questions for this survey? Also, is there anyone who would like to
have charge of sending out the survey to all vendors who currently service
Optacons and to receive their responses?
Well, that's the news for today.
