Hi, it's Robert in Brooklyn. My friend Dan, who is a member of this list,
made a very interesting observation about using the optacon and he is
definitely right. He said that if you don't keep up your optacon skills,
and skip a few days of using it, it will almost feel like a new machine
when you start using it again, and it takes time for you to regain what
you have lost. I definitely agree with this. I usually try to use my
optacon once a day for at least 15 minutes. I skipped a few days and when
I started using it, I was slower, more awkward, and it took me about 20
minutes to get back to where I had originally been. If you don't use it
for weeks at a time, you lose a great deal of fluency. It is a machine
that, in my opinion, and my friend Dan's opinion, must be used regularly
to maintain ones fluency, speed, and comfort.
