Craig, then please do find any HDMI reference that shows 2560 X 1080 being an
acceptable display option, that the display can communicate back to the STB.
I'm simply asking, tell me how this 21:9 TV set tells the BluRay player that it
is 21:9.

This was a way of limiting how many setup options an STB was supposed to
support. It would have been possible to mandate that every odd-shapedTV come
with a setup disc, and that every STB be infinitely configurable with odd
display shapes. But no one thought this made any sense.
