Looks like WiMAX is losing some of its luster?

Also,

http://www.rethink-wireless.com/2010/05/27/lte-lte-no-easy-answers-devices-readily-available.htm

says that AT&T is referring to its new HSPA+ expanded network (wideband CDMA) as "4G."

All good for a chuckle. Reality and truth do have a way of trumping mindless hype.

There seems to be some consensus on moving to TD-LTE although some operators are moving faster than others, with incremental upgrades to existing networks to fill the gap. The mess in the U.S, is exacerbated by the two-year contracts that tend to dictate the pace of real changes in hardware,

Looks like the vendors that supply the products that the telcos deploy have more flexibility than the handset/smartphone vendors. Small quantities of programmable logic devices for the networks versus millions of dedicated chips in consumer devices.

Rhere are always losers and winners...
