What I don't understand is, why don't advertizers do what's sensible? It seems so obvious. When you sell ads, you stipulate that the price you will pay per unit time will depend on how long the damned ad breaks are. It shouldn't be so hard to figure out that an ad will go from virtually zero effectiveness to something useful, if it isn't drowned out by a zillion other ads in the same break. Instead, they respond by cutting back on TV ads.
