Since this set doubles the pixels in the H and the V dimensions, it would
require roughly four times the transmission bandwidth, worst case peaks,
compared with regular HDTV.

But guess what? If one is to believe the press hype, even this amount of extra
bandwidth can be accommodated handily in OTA or any other DTV medium. Why?
Because the press hype claims that H.264 doubles the compression efficiency
compared with MPEG-2 compression, and H.265 doubles that again. So, updating
DTV to H.265 allows for UHDTV with no change to the transmission media.

I'd like to see this tried in the real world. Transmit two UHDTV programs,
using H.265, in a 6 MHz channel, for instance. As you can do with MPEG-2 HDTV
(except for fast-moving sports).

(Oh, but that assume you don't degrade the b/s/Hz with some LTE scheme! ;)
