Same here.

But I went and searched out different sites that covered that general
topic, and was surprised to see that the Magnavox/Funai CECB box
performed poorly, as far as reception goes. That's the CECB available in
quantity at Walmart.

Why surprised? I would have thought that its receiver is identical to
that in our Philips SD DVDR3575H/37 PVR (SD recording and SD receiver).
I've had excellent reception with this PVR. And it compares very well
with the LG TV's built-in receiver, so that's saying something.
