Old? I'll say. The setup instructions that came with my dad's 1952 Dumont console TV pictured a very art deco looking reflector floor lamp lighting the wall behind the set to make for easier viewing. Then there was Sylvania "Halo-Light" that back lit the translucent plastic mask surrounding the CRT.
