The problem, you see, is that the broadcasters have no clue how to do this. So they turn to the outside companies by way of 'standards' committees. And instead of working together, a select few of the private companies are more interested in stabbing others in the back or low-balling deals than they are in actually progressing the state of the industry. Hence, everyone loses. Dying is the operative word in this little tale.
