My main point was that this request seemed bogus. Even more so, given that Ch 
51 does not overlap the A block at all!

What the CTIA is saying, roughly, is "You broadcasters should be booted off Ch 
51, because we want 6 MHz of guard band just to make sure TV won't interfere 
with our broadband appliances."

To which the broadcasters should reply, "Go ahead and set up whatever guard 
band you think is necessary. Just be sure to take it out of your block, not 
ours."

The CTIA is feeling emboldened by this Genachowski FCC's obvious laser focus on 
repurposing spectrum to broadband, no matter whose toes they step on. 
Evidently, the FCC isn't just picking on OTA broadcasters. They use the same 
tactics on GPS, as the DOT and DOD have discovered much to their annoyance. And 
the CTIA is exploiting this FCC mindset to push its own interests around too.
