This quote raised my hopes "The Sun is currently lacking spots, which may
precede a very cold period."
That was until I compared the change in Mean Annual Temperature from 1950
to the number of Sunspots recorded over the same period.
It ain't pretty. The two measures seem to be inversely correlated - at
least in real time.
