The Cape Blanco, Curry SANDHILL CRANE was still aound on Saturday afternoon
the 26th. I believe Joni Dawnling (spelling) found this bird on the 12th.
One can find it by driving west on the Cape Blanco road. A little after 4
miles the road exits the trees with marsh and open grasslands on either
side of the road. It is north of the road here, before you get to the
little parking area on the north side of the road (still about 1/2 mile
east of Hughes House). Interesting to note that there were northbound
cranes in Coos at Tenmile, Creek on the 10th and 11th (Joe Metzler saw
these). This is a species not seen every year in either county.

Our hummer feeders are emptying daily, three of the four anyhow. The
Rufous have fledged and the kids are lined up at our back three feeders,
been keeping me busy preparing and filling feeders!

Still pretty quiet here migration-wise, the OC Warblers are thick in my
neighborhood, waiting for the weather to clear to move on. Once that
happens early next week all mayhem should break loose.

ENJOY!
