I am aware of several reports of this species in Oregon over the years, but
none have been adequately described or documented. There was one reported
several years ago at Summer Lake. Later that same day I saw what I thought
was the magpie, only to see that it had found a stash of yellow food
(peanuts?) that it was actively transporting to a nearby spot. It sure looked
like it had a yellow bill--had me going.

A lot of years ago, there was a certain Yellow-billed Magpie near Gresham.
While I am one to presume the wild unaided origin of vagrants, I am certain
that a Yellow-billled Magpie did not reach Gresham on its own. Magpies have
occasionally been kept in captivity. Yellow-billeds' range isn't close to
Oregon, and there are Black-billeds between us and the YBs in California. YBs
are not migratory and don't get out of range much or very far when they do.
