Click on above link to see and hear the black phoebe we encountered at the end
of the Rail Trail at Ankeny NWR today. Also included is
a frog chorus, and pics of a bushtit, golden-crowned kinglet, and a bald eagle
perched very near a red-tailed hawk. We encountered a
peregrine falcon perched on the tallest dead trees at Pintail marsh.

We also saw 20 great egrets at the field visible from the pullout that has the
large weeping willow trees.

In the field across from Eagle Marsh, there were thousands and thousands of
Northern Pintails.

Eagle marsh had scads of ducks and 18 tundra swans.
