Want to thank those who responded to my bee situation. Bees were SWARMING over
the hummingbird feeders - LAYERS of them! It’s never happened here before!
Of course there had been yellow-jackets at the feeders, but not more than 2 or
3 at a time at the end of summer. Bee-guards were not sufficient. I painted
the guard, plus the base of the feeder at the screw cap, with OLIVE OIL,
careful not to get it on the nipple, itself. Bees tried to land, but they were
repelled. Finally, they deserted the feeders all together. Now, I hope the
hummingbirds return.
