Yesterday before the heavy afternoon rains we checked out the Prescott Beach area near the Trojan PGE Park in Columbia County. The Graham road to Prescott Beach traverses a very interesting wetlands/ huge flooded area. Many many swans with juveniles. The swans were flying and calling as they flew. It was easy to tell the difference between the Trumpeters and the Tundras based on voice in that situation. Other birds of note— one Peregrine in the cottonwoods, some Ring Necked ducks and there were Common Goldeneyes off the beach in the Columbia. Otherwise relatively quiet. We did not walk the woods around PGE park area which might have yielded more birds— the rain and Arctic front arrival did not make that an attractive option compared to birding out of the car.
