Somebody needs to put a couple of trail cams at these breakin sites.

Just adding to the prior caution (thank you to whoever posted because I was
sure not to leave anything of value in car) that my car window was smashed
there last night. Sometimes I wonder if a better approach is to just leave
my window down and save everyone the trouble. I guess they could take my
gps/“radio” but not sure if that’s even a thing anymore.

Here's a very cool observation that was shared on the Nevada birding list.
There are several Swan Lakes in northern Nevada, but I believe this posting
is in reference to the one just outside of Reno, in the Lemmon Valley near
the Reno airport. -- joel

Subject: Damselfly emerging on leg of Ibis
While at Swan Lake yesterday evening, I photographed a White-faced Ibis
resting on one leg. Later, when viewing the image on my computer, I noticed
a teneral (recently emerged) damselfly perched on the upper part of the leg.
And, lower on the leg just above the water, was the remains of a damselfly
nymph, probably the husk from which the damselfly had emerged not long
before. Then I noticed a green object at the “knee” of the bird, which I
had thought was algae. But no, it was a damselfly nymph, preparing for
emergence. Typically, to emerge, dragonflies and damselflies climb out of
the water onto rocks, vegetation, or debris, often at the water’s edge. But
the shoreline of Swan Lake is receding at such a rate that there is little
to no emergent vegetation there. As ibis eat aquatic insects, including
dragonfly and damselfly nymphs, I thought it was fascinating [to] see ibis
used as part of their prey’s reproductive cycle.
