We have had a similar sized flock of Oregon Juncos at our feeder every
winter since 1993 when we moved in. A single Slate-colored will appear
pretty much every year in late March. Many years l have noted a
Cassiar("cismontanus " on eBird) appear in late February. Two years ago l
spent all day the first Sunday in November poking along eastward from The
Dalles to John Day Dam. At the turnaround at the fish ladder right at
sunset l saw a flock of four Juncos. They were all Slate-colored.

Junco. For us this is usual. We do have one Spotted Towhee but it stays
down on the ground. Our Western Bluebirds who WERE checking out our nest
boxes on Thursday seem to have disappeared. I checked to boxes and cannot
find them.
Oh, did I mention we have 4" of fresh snow? Got lots of wood and food so
we are snuggled for the duration.
