While others got their state bird Common Eider someplace else, I spent about 3
hours along Rentenaar Rd on Sauvie Island this morning. The Harris's and
Clay-colored Sparrow both continue in the same area they were previously
reported. A single White-throated Sparrow showed off very nicely as well in the
willow at the intersection. Sora and Virginia Rail were calling from the wet
meadows further up the road.
It is mind-blowing how conditioned the Golden-crowned Sparrows at this
intersection are. If you stand still for a while, they will almost hop on your
boots. The further away from the intersection you get, the more normal they
behave.
