I went out to look for Elegant Terns and got distracted by a brightly marked juvenile peep imbedded in a flock of WESTERN SANDPIPERS at the big pond in the South Jetty Shorebird Flats. I am reasonable confident that it was a juvenile LITTLE STINT. I did not get any photos, because the sequence is observe, note details, get photos. A PECTORAL SANDPIPER spooked the flock before I could get to the photographing. Written details at: http://www.surfbirds.com/community-blogs/northcoastdiaries/ I spent most of the rest of the morning sifting through the shorebird flocks on the river beach. Lots of birds, but nothing like what I first saw... I may have heard ELEGANT TERN, didn't see any though. -- Mike Patterson Astoria, OR String Theory http://www.surfbirds.com/community-blogs/northcoastdiaries/?p=2182 OBOL archives: www.freelists.org/archive/obol Manage your account or unsubscribe: //www.freelists.org/list/obol Contact moderators: obol-moderators@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
