Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 2. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On September 26 a CANADA WARBLER was at the P Ranch, a Magnolia Warbler at
Page Springs,, and a BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER was in Burns. On September
29 a BLACKPOLL WARBLER was near Diamond. A LITTLE GULL was seen through the
week at Agency Lake north of Klamath Falls. On September 29 a BLACKPOLL
WARBLER was at Bandon Marsh.

Migrant WHITE-FRONTED and CACKLING GEESE were reported through the week with
a major movement September 29. A few SNOW GEESE were with them. Migrant
TURKEY VULTURES and SWAINSON¹S THRUSHES were also reported. On September 27
several thousand VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were at Pistol River.

An offshore boat trip out of Coos Bay September 26 recorded a FLESH-FOOTED
SHEARWATER, four ASHY STORM-PETRELS, many SABINE¹S GULLS, ARCTIC and COMMON
TERNS, and good numbers of SKUAS and all three jaegers. On September 28 a
MANX SHEARWATER was seen off Cape Blanco.

On September 27 a LAPLAND LONGSPUR was at Flores Lake. A SABINE¹S GULL was
at Newport September 29. Two LAPLAND LONGSPURS were at the South Jetty of
Yaquina Bay September 28. On September 30 a WILLET was at the Necanicum
River mouth in Seaside. Eight LAPLAND LONGSPURS were at the South Jetty of
the Columbia River September 30.

An IBIS has been seen during the week at Ridgefield NWR. On September 25
five MARBLE GODWITS, 82 GREAT EGRETS and 61 WHITE PELICANS were on the
refuge. At Smith/Bybee Lakes in North Portland during the week were two
FRANKLIN¹S GULLS, a SABINE¹S GULL, an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, and a
SANDERLING. On September 25 a CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD visited a Salem feeder.
An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was seen September 27 at Fern Ridge Reservoir. A
SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER was there October 1. A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was
photographed at Grants Pass September 25. A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was at Lake
Selmac in Josephine County September 28.
