This report was made Thursday October 16. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at 503-233-3976. On October 11 a BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER was on the Bayocean Spit at Tillamook Bay. VARIED THRYSHES moved during the week into the westside lowlands. The MOCKINGBIRDS returned October 9 to their annual wintering areas at Gold Beach and at Alvadore. Swarms of CALIFORNIA GULLS are now being seen along the coast. ELEGANT TERNS continue with 200 at the Hammond Boat Basin October 13. On October 12 a TROPICAL KINGBIRD was south of Bandon. A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was north of Florence October 12. An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was at Yaquina Bay October 11. On October 14 a COMMON MURRE was far up the Yaquina Estuary at Toledo. A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was photographed October 11 at Whalen Island south of Tillamook. A SANDERLING was at Ridgefield NWR October 15. On October 9 a flock of MEADOWLARKS were on Mt. Tabor in Portland. A WHITE-FACED IBIS was at Ankeny NWR October 10. A PRAIRIE FALCON was seen October 9 at Finley NWR. The SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER continues to be seen at Fern Ridge Reservoir. On October 9 two WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS and a LAPLAND LONGSPUR were seen there. At the Kirtland Road Ponds at White City October 14 were two DUNLIN. On October 12 a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was at Ashland Pond. On October 14 two GREATER SCAUP, three SURF SCOTERS, and a COMMON LOON were on Haystack Reservoir near Madras. The next day four SURF SCOTERS were on Suttle Lake. A flock of 20 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen October 8 at Camp Sherman. On October 9 two SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were at Hatfield Lake near Bend. A flock of 60 CROWS were in Bend October 8. The Agency Lake SABINE¹S GULL continues to be seen.
