Today, Dave Haupt and I returned to the location where Julie Van Moorhem had seen 2 PINE GROSBEAKs, in Klamath County. We saw three in the same area as she saw them last weekend. The location is about one-half to three-quarters of a mile along Clover Creek Road, east from the junction of Clover Creek and Dead Indian Memorial Roads. Look for a road to the south that is paved for about 10-15 yds away from Clover Creek Rd., and then turns to cinder. We parked on the paved portion. The stop sign has orange flagging on it, as does a small bush at its base. The birds were seen flying at various spots at that location, mostly within 10 feet from the ground, and sometimes on the ground. We tracked them about 3 times total, and viewed them for approximately 2-3 minutes, so they were hard to pin down. We only saw a female type well, and not sure if it was that same individual. On one flyby some brighter white from the wings was seen, which suggested a male, but we were not sure.

Nearby, we saw a Ruffed Grouse meandering across Dead Indian Memorial Road, and then while up on Cold Springs Road, about 7-8 miles up, we saw Black-backed Woodpeckers-3, and a Sooty Grouse.
