I photographed a Red-shouldered Hawk on two different days from Eagle's Marsh observation building at the north end of Ankeny NWR. This week also saw two mature Bald Eagle's team up and a attack a flock of ducks. One eagle got a duck in shallow water and sat on it for a few minutes. The eagle then tried to fly with the duck a couple of times and couldn't seem to get enough lift to take off. The eagle flew to a nearby tree for a couple of minutes. The duck seemed to pop back up but was probably injured. The eagle flew down and tried again and was able to get the duck to a nearby island and proceeded to eat it. Nature seems a little cruel at times. Click on link below for Red-shouldered Hawk photos.
