Every time I've seen a SABINE'S GULL from land it was raining, about to
start raining or just stopped raining.

An hour long seawatch at Smelt Sands SP produced a good number of
passing birds, with hundreds of black and surf scoters. Good numbers of

pair of juvenile SABINE'S GULLS. I have never seen this species from
land, and I wonder if this is tied to our unusual weather this week? No
tubenoses of any kind were seen. A single, distant LEACH'S STORM PETREL
was briefly seen, but nothing like the numbers reported from Boiler
Bay. It is currently pouring in yachats, but I hope to get back out
there soon.
