Good morning,
On July 1, there was a lone Lesser Yellowlegs on the bay, close to the road.
Then yesterday, Mike and I found 4 more at Cape Meares Lake. They were along
the north east section of the lake (seen from the Bayocean Spit Rd). The lake
is more shallow than usual; it must be in the process of being drained, as
reported earlier on OBOL.
For the first time this year, we noticed a pair of osprey over Netarts Bay. We
had been wondering where the nest might be. While kayaking Cape Meares Lake
yesterday, we discovered it, on top of a large old tree at the south end of the
lake. One adult osprey was kept busy keeping a Bald eagle away from the nest.
The Purple Martins are still in the old tsunami warning siren at the Netarts
Boat Basin. This is the third year they have nested there.
