The post about putative Wheatears says the detection was July 4, so any
sub-alpine sally would sadly but surely be more senile than salient. I was
there by coincidence--jct of Timberline and Cooper's Spur trails--for several
hours this Saturday evening (7/23) armed with 12 X binocular and a perky
attitude. A few juncos and slightly more few Mtn Bluebirds. Noteworthy for its
non-birdiness really. The absence of humans was especially appreciated by me.
The original poster has never surfaced again--anyone get a private message? The
email address is one of those no reply ones, which led me to wonder at the
outset of this thread if something vaguely underhanded wasn't afoot.
I think Rock Wren is a very good suggestion. The Norwegian name for
Wheatear is stenskvett-"stonechat". They do have broadly overlapping habitat
