I explored the bottom from north to south along the main trail between 1 and 5pm. Forty mile an hour gusts and a 1/4 inch of rain delivered in showers made for interesting weather. It was a good day for raptors - 2 peregrine falcons, one adult and one immature. 2 american kestrels, one female one male. 4 red-tails, 3 adult, one immature. 1 possible rough-legged hawk. 2 accipiters, one immature cooper's and one adult sharp-shinned. 2 adult bald eagles. 2 northern harriers, 1 immature, 1 adult male. 12 dunlin in pintail pond, the first dunlin I've recorded for the season. 4 Wilson's snipe Estimated 1000 northern pintail in the sky at one time, thanks to bald eagles passing over far east side of the bottom.
