Hi all, A few days ago Jackie Nichols discovered a Pacific-slope Flycatcher on a nest up in the rafters of a shed on her property near Alsea. "Classically" this species would place its nest in the crotch of a tree, but they are known for being opportunists and will make use of other ledge-types situations that they find. In this case, the "ledge" seems to be a re-purposed Barn Swallow nest. I've posted the photo to the Mid-Valley Nature discussion forum: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/mid-valley-nature/xA4J5Ui9TDg With a close look and bit of imagination you can see the eye-ring of the flycatcher as she's brooding on the nest. Happy birding, Joel -- Joel Geier Camp Adair area north of Corvallis OBOL archives: www.freelists.org/archive/obol Manage your account or unsubscribe: //www.freelists.org/list/obol Contact moderators: obol-moderators@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
