Hi all: Not saying it is or is not, but there is a "piebald" hawk at Brownsmead, been there awhile, I recall a post from a certain Astoria based birder in regard to this bird on about Dec 2 of 2012..though love it to be a Gyr Bob Archer PDX ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Jeff Fleischer <raptorrunner97321@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Sat, Mar 2, 2013 at 7:35 PM Subject: [obol] Gryfalcon sighting - Brownsmead area To: OBOL <obol@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Obolers, Jeff St. Clair just sent me the following message about a near white Gyrfalcon that he found today in the Brownsmead area in Clatsop County while conducting his monthly raptor survey for the East Cascades Audubon Society's Winter Raptor Survey Project. "Big day today on lower Columbia run. Saw an almost pure white Gyr in a large cottonwood near intersection of Rudat Road & gerttula lane. It was a speck of white in a distant tree, but became clear in scope. Faint barring on breast, grayish malar marking on head. Watched it for about 20 minutes before it took flight." Hope it is still around tomorrow for someone else to enjoy! :) Jeff Fleischer Project Coordinator Winter Raptor Survey Project East Cascades Audubon Society - Bend, OR
